Workshop on Thematic Channels

30 November 2017 - Brusels

Concept

This workshop will gather industry experts who deal daily with the challenges linked to the monetisation of thematic channels. Regardless of whether you are in charge of news, sports, lifestyle or children’s channels, the opportunities and pitfalls you are facing are most certainly shared by colleagues around Europe and beyond, so why not discuss them with a constructive, genuine and business-focused mindset?

Topics for the day

Morning session – insights on thematic channels at large:

-          Innovation in packaging, pricing and sales

-          Cross platform consumption and its impact on the business

-          Strategies to face the competition of digital platforms and OTT services

-          Innovation in audience measurement for niche channels

-          Best case studies shared by the participants (Sales, Research, Marketing, Pricing)

Afternoon session – focus on kids’ channels:

-          Reaching children online, on OTT and SVOD services

-          Update on legal restrictions brought by the AVMS Directive and the GDPR

-          Role of children’s offers on pay TV platforms

-          Best case studies shared by the participants (Sales, Research, Marketing, Pricing)

Format of the day

At this stage, it is difficult to assess the potential number of interested participants, hence our request for you to register early or to mark your interest soon, so that we can adjust accordingly. However, we wish to work with a small group of participants (25 to 40 people, tbc) to allow not only for in-depth discussions and very hands-on interaction but also offer a unique networking and benchmarking opportunity.

The concept of “workshop” is meant as a format where participants learn not only from the few guest experts, but mostly from their colleagues who are facing similar challenges daily and are eager to discuss problems concretely. We therefore ask all participants to come with an open mind for discussion, a willingness to share by giving their honest input on how to address the problems faced by thematic and niche channels today.
Participants can either attend the morning session only, or stay the entire day, according to their channels’ focus. Should many egta members wish to discuss other non-kids related matters in the afternoon session, we could envisage to run a parallel discussion group. If this is the case, please inform us as soon as possible.
